School management system
The school management system built for Ugandan and African schools
Run admissions, registers, marks, report cards, fees, payroll and parent communication from one secure system that works on any phone or computer, even when the internet is slow.
- UNEB and CBC grading, positions and report cards
- Fees collected by MTN MoMo and Airtel Money
- Parents get SMS, WhatsApp and a portal
- Works offline for registers; installs like an app
Everything a school office does, in one place
Each part works on its own and all of them share the same learners, classes and terms, so nothing is typed twice.
Learners and staff
Profiles with photos, guardians, registration numbers, documents, promotions at year end and CSV import from Excel.
Attendance
Class registers on a phone in seconds, even offline. Parents can be texted when a child is absent.
Marks and gradebook
Teachers enter marks per assessment; grades, averages and positions are worked out for you.
Report cards
UNEB and CBC report cards in several designs, with AI-drafted comments, printed a whole class at a time.
Fees and mobile money
Fee structures, invoices, receipts by SMS, balances, and payments by MTN MoMo and Airtel Money.
Accounts and payroll
Cash book, bills, debtors, budgets, monthly payroll with PAYE, NSSF and payslips, and an asset register.
Parents and messages
SMS and WhatsApp to parents, announcements, a parent and learner portal, chat and video calls for staff.
Timetable and calendar
Automatic timetable building, term dates, public holidays and school events for everyone.
Insights and early warning
Attendance, results and fee trends, and a list of learners at risk so you can follow up early.
Why schools move to IWAT School Solutions
Most schools we meet keep their records in exercise books, a few Excel files and a bursar’s receipt books. It works until the end of term, when teachers spend days adding marks by hand, report cards are typed one by one, and nobody can say quickly which parents still owe fees.
IWAT School Solutions puts all of that in one place. A teacher takes the register on a phone. Marks go into the gradebook once and appear on the report card with the grade, the average and the position already worked out. A parent pays school fees with mobile money and receives a receipt by SMS, while the bursar sees the payment straight away. The head teacher opens one dashboard to see attendance, results and fee collection for the whole school.
It was designed in Uganda for Ugandan schools: the Uganda national curriculum, the new competence-based curriculum (CBC), UNEB grading, Uganda’s public holidays, PAYE and NSSF on payroll, and MTN and Airtel mobile money are built in rather than added later. Schools in other countries use the same system with their own currency and grading.
Made for real school conditions
- Works on cheap phones and slow internet. Pages are light, and registers can be taken offline and sent later.
- Installs like an app. On Android and iPhone it can be added to the home screen and sends notifications, without an app store.
- One school, many roles. Head teacher, director of studies, bursar, class teachers, librarian, nurse, parents and learners each see only what their role needs.
- Safe records. Every change is logged, data is encrypted in transit, backups are encrypted every night, and each school’s data is kept apart from every other school’s.
- Your records stay yours. Export learners, marks and payments to CSV or Excel at any time.
From admission to graduation
- 1Families apply online through your admissions form or the free school directory. You interview, offer places and enrol in one click.
- 2Learners are placed in classes and streams, given registration numbers, ID cards, and fees invoices for the term.
- 3Teachers take registers, enter marks for beginning, mid and end of term, and write lesson plans in the NCDC layout.
- 4Report cards with positions, grades and comments print for the whole class; parents can also check results online.
- 5At the end of the year the whole school is promoted to the next class, and the history stays on each learner’s record.

Frequently asked questions
What is a school management system?
It is software that keeps all of a school’s records and daily work in one place: learners and staff, attendance, marks and report cards, fees and payments, timetables and messages to parents. Instead of separate books and spreadsheets, everyone works from the same up-to-date information.
Does it work for the new CBC curriculum and UNEB?
Yes. Grading follows the Uganda national curriculum and UNEB, and the lower secondary competence-based curriculum (CBC). You can also set your own grading scales and decide how beginning, mid and end of term exams add up to the term result.
Can parents pay school fees with mobile money?
Yes. Parents pay with MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money, the payment is matched to the learner, and a receipt is sent by SMS. The money goes to the school’s own merchant account.
Do we need to install anything?
No. It runs in the web browser on phones, tablets and computers, and can be added to the home screen like an app. We host it and keep it updated and backed up.
Can we try it before paying?
Yes. Every school gets 7 days free with its own data. You can add classes, learners and fees straight away; messaging and mobile money open once we have checked your school documents.
Is it only for Uganda?
No. It was built in Uganda and works best there, but schools in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and beyond use it with their own currency and grading scales.
